Multi-Resolution Graph Cuts for Stereo-Motion Estimation Joshua A. Worby Master of Applied Science Graduate Department of The Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering University of Toronto 2007 This thesis presents the design and implementation of a multi-resolution graph cuts (MRGC) for stereo-motion framework that produces dense disparity maps. Both stereo and motion are estimated simultaneously under the original graph cuts framework [8]. Our framework extends the problem from one to five dimensions, creating a large increase in complexity. Using three different multi-resolution graph cut algorithms, LDNR, EL and SAC, we reduce the number of pixels m and the number of labels n that limit the α − β swap algorithm (with complexity O(mn) required from the definition of our semi-metric smoothness function. This results in a reduction of computation time and the ability to handle larger images and larger label sets. The choice of the three MRGC algorithms to use in computation determines the appropriate level of accuracy and computation time desired.

A Integrated Depth Fusion Algorithm for Multi-View Stereo
In this paper, we propose a new integrated depth fusion algorithm for multi-view stereo. Starting from an embedding space such as the visual hull, we will first conduct robust 3D depth estimation (represented as 3D points) based on image correlation. Next a volumetric saliency weighted normal vector field is constructed from which a watertight 3D surface can be extracted using the graph cut alg...
متن کاملPseudo Zernike Moment-based Multi-frame Super Resolution
The goal of multi-frame Super Resolution (SR) is to fuse multiple Low Resolution (LR) images to produce one High Resolution (HR) image. The major challenge of classic SR approaches is accurate motion estimation between the frames. To handle this challenge, fuzzy motion estimation method has been proposed that replaces value of each pixel using the weighted averaging all its neighboring pixels i...
متن کاملHighly Accurate Depth Estimation for Objects at Large Distances
Precise stereo-based depth estimation at large distances is challenging: objects become very small, often exhibit low contrast in the image, and can hardly be separated from the background based on disparity due to measurement noise. In this paper we present an approach that overcomes these problems by combining robust object segmentation and highly accurate depth and motion estimation. The seg...
متن کاملRigid Body Reconstruction for Motion Analysis of Giant Honey Bees using Stereo Vision
Zoologists are interested in the rapid movements of giant honeybees. Especially the mass-movement of bees during the defense behavior is of interest. State of the art approaches measure the motion of a single bee using a laser vibrometer, which does not provide geometric information on mass-motion like speed, intensity, starting point or mesh density. To overcome this problem, a vision based me...
متن کاملMotion Segmentation over Image Sequences Using Multiway Cuts and Affine Transformations
Motion segmentation is an important process in computer vision. Graph cut based tools exist for segmenting moving objects in images using frame-to-frame correspondence. Also graph cut tools have been shown to perform efficiently for stereo correspondence. In this thesis, multiway graph cut techniques and affine transformations for stereo and motion by Birchfield and Tomasi are analyzed. This wo...
